![]() ![]() In the second part, we are going to zoom out and ponder to what extent his oscillation between written and virtual content might be illustrative for the theme of this conference “from manuscript to e-book”, taking into account that this perspective comes from Eco, who is an outspoken defender of the printed paper. In the first one, wandering between the author’s literary and scientific works, we will try to figure out where and how this expedient manifests in Eco, understand the function and the reasons for which it is used so often – whether for auctoritas or otherwise –, and its repercussions on the rest of the text. Accordingly, our paper will be divided into two parts. Still, in his latest novel, Numero zero, as previously in Il pendolo di Foucault, there is no trace of this recurrent trope and, instead, the action seems to be triggered by the search of a supposedly hidden floppy disk and, respectively, by the discovery of a digital archive. ![]() Out of his six novels, four are built around the discovery of some sort of manuscript. It is well known that the Italian writer is rather keen on the device of the found manuscript. ![]()
